Crete European Teams 2015

Image
Had a blast in Crete this past week with team Estonia;s track team. We managed to pull off yet another great performance and stay in the 1st league. It literally went down to the wire, and our 4x400 team, had to beat Lithuania by 5 points (So there had to be 5 teams in between us and them) after the final event scores. We ended up beating them by 1.5 pts. and earned once again a spot in this league. Next year there will not be European teams, because it's Olympic and European Championships year, but this one here, was definitely one of the most memorable ones yet! First sight when we got there...not a bad start Hotel view Waiting to be adopted, some local had left these pups there for the grabs, they kept us busy The Track in Heraklion "Pancritio Stadium" - The New home for the Estonian 4x400 Record, not for too long tho :) Greece is a really strong country in Men's and Women's Pole vault, they made sure the pit was crispy clean. Tallinna muusika

Umbes sellise muusika saatel on Tallinnas hea enda jalga suhteliselt külmas ilmas tatsuma saada. Also, today I was honored to be apart of the Casting for the U23 European Championship Award Ceremony ladies. Here we go, the judges facing a tough task of picking out the best candidates.  And the winners are...

Giving back

Image
This past week I had a pleasant opportunity to give back where I once came from. TV10 Olympic Starts is a series of Track and Field meets in Estonia for the youth of the sport. Many now, Olympic athletes have grown out of this event. It is very competitive across the nation, with athletes from hundreds of schools. It has come to a full circle. 16 years ago in 1999 I also took part of the final episode. Now I am talking to these kids what It means to be athletic and make the decision to stick with sports. It's a very fulfilling feeling to give back. Not in money, but in words and stories I once went through. Kids were very excited and very eager to get their goodies signed.  I wish good luck to all. Thanks for having me. Copyrights to these pics I found online belong to Irina Mägi. Having fun with the host, answering questions. Talking to the kids, while taking pics. The Mascots :)

Jet Lag Day 5

Image
Last night we had the Champions League final. Big ups to Barca. Unfortunately I was unable to finish the first half due to my jet lag. Oh well... Tonight is Warriors (Curry MVP) and Cleveland (LeBron) Game 2 of the NBA finals. Overall I am feeling better than I was yesterday. I've been making myself stay up. Last night I had the best cup of cocoa, with peppermint. I also read a good Estonian poetry book called "Elu Tants" by Doris Kareva and Jürgen Rooste. The format is that one of the poets goes first, and the other responds back with his/hers own. Conversational. Like a "dance of life" would be. Takes two to make things go right. These poems are on very general topics about life. They delve into characters and occupations such as doctors and politicians and how they affect the world we live in. Some hints of death, teenage life, and self+worth. A good read when you can read in Estonian.... Seafood , Mango and Nutella on a toast kind of morning
