Giving back

This past week, I had the pleasant opportunity to give back to the community where I once started. TV10 Olympic Starts is a series of track and field meets in Estonia for young athletes, and many current Olympic competitors have emerged from this event. It is highly competitive nationwide, with participants from hundreds of schools.

Full circle, 16 years ago in 1999, I also took part in the final episode. Now, I have the chance to speak to these kids about what it means to be athletic and the importance of committing to sports. It’s a very fulfilling experience to give back—not with money, but through sharing the stories and lessons from my own journey. The kids were excited and eager to get their memorabilia signed. I wish them all the best and am grateful for the opportunity. Copyright for these pictures, which I found online, belongs to Irina Mägi.
